About - Sun Under

Sun Under is an indie rock musical project from suburban Montreal founded in 2018 by guitarist Andre Simard, the guy pictured above.

Andre was trained as a classical guitarist and obtained a college degree from École de musique Vincent-d’Indy in Montréal, Québec. He subsequently explored many different musical styles as an autodidact.

What you’ll find on Sun Under’s first EP Meadows is a rather mellow form of instrumental rock with tinges of folk, blues, jazz and even a dash of progressive rock in there.

For those interested in the compositional aspect, all seven pieces where initially written on classical guitar. Acoustic, electric and bass guitars then added extra layers of musical complexity. Keyboard instruments, trumpet, electric violin, as well as the occasional banjo and ukulele completed the arrangements.

Our second EP Songs From The Backyard was released on February 24, 2024. Compositional aspect is similar to Meadows, but now Andre dares to sing… 😉

This EP is a collection of five previously released singles : “In Some Higher Way“, “Deeper Than You Can“, “Don’t Turn Around“, “She Is Everywhere” and “High Above The Tree Line“.

The drumming and percussions were all provided by Jean-Sébastien Brault-Labbé, who also mixed and mastered all of Sun Under’s music.
